THE PROS: The Toshiba BDX5200 is a nice budgeted blu-ray player that offers many great features. This very affordable player is capable of 1080p/24fps video outputs and decoding the latest audio formats – Dolby® True HD and DTS® HD Master Audio. Other features include 3D playback, DVD up-scaling, Built-In WI-FI, USB and SD Card playback and online streaming media services (Netflix,VUDU, CinemaNow,YouTube,Pandora).
THE CONS: The online streaming media services for the BDX5200 is not as extensive as you will find in other blu-ray players such as Sony, Panasonic and Samsung. There is no internal memory source for downloading BD-Live content – You will require a SD Card or USB memory device. It is also lacking any DLNA support.
THE FINAL WORD: The BDX5200 from Toshiba will provide you with great audio and image quality. If you are looking for a cheap player that has both 3D capability and built-in WI-FI, then this player will be a good choice. It does lack some of the features you can find in its competitors like DLNA support and better Online Streaming Media Services. However, overall it has an easy user interface and includes almost all of the current technology you will need to have a good High-Definition experience. — Price you should look for when purchasing — Under $150.00
