THE PROS: Along with a slimmer, sleek design; the new version of Sony’s PlayStation 3 is more energy efficient and comes with a considerable price reduction. With this slimmer design the operation of the system is quieter. All gaming is done in High Definition and has a very easy operating interface. Of course, the PlayStation 3 acts as a Blu-ray Player and upscaling DVD player. It has 120GB of internal memory with built in WI-FI that makes connection to the Internet a breeze. It even has its own internal web Browser and free online gaming service. Add to this an HDMI output with 1080p support and it uses no external power supply.
THE CONS: The PlayStation 3 does not have any backwards support for PS2 games. Online media is still lacking and not as developed as its competitors. With no infrared port, non-Bluetooth universal remote controls will not work with the PlayStation 3. In most cases you would have to purchase the Bluetooth remote control to make watching Blu-ray Movies easier.
THE FINAL WORD: With a price tag of now $299, slimmer design, more energy efficient operation; this gaming console with built in Blu-ray Player and multimedia capabilities give a persuasive argument as to why it is still your best option.
