THE PROS: The Sharp BD-HP52U Blu-ray Player supports 1080p/24 playback on Blu-ray Discs. Has internal audio decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA. These audio formats can be transferred in bit-stream form via HDMI connection. BD-Live capable and Firmware updates have access to Netflix Streaming Services. Has a RS-232 Port.
THE CONS: It does not have any multi-channel analog audio outputs. So it would not be the best option for someone with an older. non-HDMI A/V receiver. No internal memory. A USB storage device is required to access BD-Live content. No option for Wi-Fi.
THE FINAL WORD: The Sharp BD-HP52U has good video and audio quality when playing back Blu-ray Discs. Has a quick Start Mode so it can load some Blu-ray Discs very fast. With Firmware upgrade you get access to Netflix. If you are not interested in Netflix feature, you may want to check the BD-HP22U. It has similar features but the price is usually lower and includes 2GB of USB memory. — Price you should look for when purchasing — Under $200.00
