THE PROS:
The BD-D5700 blu-ray player from Samsung has many appealing features. Besides playing back Blu-ray discs at Full HD 1080p, with the latest HD audio formats – Dolby Digital TrueHD and DTS Master Audio. It has Samsung Smart TV, where you can explore the entire internet. You can use Samsung apps from your TV to connect to your favorite online content like Netflix, Blockbuster, Hulu Plus, YouTube, Pandora, Facebook, Twitter and many more. A built-in Wi-Fi connection makes connecting to the internet a lot simpler. It also has the ability to stream movies, videos or music from your PC with the AllShare feature(DLNA). Other features include USB playback, stylish design, Ultra Fast Play (3sec Booting), new GUI and EnergyStar 2.0.

THE CONS:
Unlike many of Samsung’s 2011 Blu-ray line-up, the BD-D5700 is not 3D capable. With a price list of almost $200.00, you can find players with similar features that cost less. Including Samsung’s own model, the BD-D5500. For an extra $30.00 you can get the same player with 3D capability – the BD-D6500. Does not come equipped with any on board storage memory, so BD-Live features will require a USB storage device. Some consumers complain that using the remote with the onscreen “keyboard” can be difficult to navigate.

THE FINAL WORD:
If you are not concerned about or do not need a 3D blu-ray player, the BD-D5700 maybe a good choice for you. It is reasonable price player considering it comes equipped with Samsungs’s Smart TV and Samsung Apps, is DLNA certified and has Built-In Wi-Fi. It should provide you with excellent image quality and sound. — Price you should look for when purchasing — Under $200.00
