THE PROS: The Panasonic DMP-B500 is a portable Blu-ray Player with a 10.1” LCD display screen. It has 5.1-channel Dolby Digital Plus/Dolby TrueHD decoding and bit-stream output via HDMI. It has a built in 2 channel speaker and a rechargeable battery with a 3.5 hour playback like. You can access Viera Cast to get online streaming from Netflix, Amazon Video on Demand, YouTube, Twitter, Pandora, Picasa, and many more. It is DLNA certified with WI-FI enabled. Wireless LAN Adapter and a L-Shaped USB Connector are included. It has great video features such as PHL Reference Chroma Processor Plus / 1080/24p playback / 3D-NR and Integrated NR digital noise reduction / Picture adjustment.
THE CONS: No internal memory for downloading BD-Live content. Wireless USB adapter is required for wireless internet connection. Which is not a big problem since Panasonic does provide the USB LAN adapter. However, it would be nice to have the WI-FI built-in. The display screen does not turn around and close onto itself, therefore you have to be careful with the display screen when transporting the player.
THE FINAL WORD: The Panasonic DMP-500 Portable Blu-ray Player is an improvement on Panasonic’s DMPB15K. Which was bulky and over priced. The DMP-B500 is more streamlined and loaded with great features. Provides great video and audio. It still can be used as a fully stand alone unit or it can be connected to a HDTV. The portable Blu-ray Player is still something that is geared to a specific consumer, so definitely, weigh all the factors before purchasing one. — Price you should look for when purchasing — $600.00

    Online-Streaming-Media-Services
In 2011 we are seeing a trend that started to emerge a couple of years ago. And that is consumers moving away from traditional physical media to online streaming digital content. Making the Blu-ray player as much about online streaming media services, as it is about playing high-definition discs.
