THE PROS: The high-end Oppo BDP-95 has a lot in common with the company’s BDP-93 model. Both are excellent 3D Universal players, with built-in WI-FI, online streaming (Netflix, Blockbuster), DLNA support, supports NTSC and PAL systems, USB playback, eSATA interface, IR In, RS232 Control and unparalleled video quality (Marvell video processing). The BDP-95 has every possible audio and video connections, including dual HDMI outputs. The big difference between the two players is the BDP-95’s enhance audio features. It has Sabre32 Reference ES9018 digital-to-analog converters, Dedicated Stereo Output, XLR balanced stereo outputs and much more providing the ultimate audio experience.

THE CONS: The Oppo BDP-95 high price will not appeal to many, except the most demanding audio enthusiast. Unlike many of the other Blu-ray Players, the BDP-95 does not offer much in the way of Online Streaming Media Services.

THE FINAL WORD: The Oppo BDP-95 is an excellent Blu-ray Player. It includes all of the great features of the BDP-93, while also improving in areas where it was weak. This 3D Universal player will provide you with the best possible sound and video. Because of its high price, if you are using HDMI to transmit your audio and video, then the less expensive BDP-93 should meet your needs. However, it you are an audiophile looking for a high-end design with reference quality digital-to-analog converters, then the BDP-95 would be your best choice. Even with its high price tag, the Oppo BDP-95 is considerable cheaper than most high-end blu-ray players. – Price you should look for when purchasing — Under $1000.00

• Source Direct Mode: For users who wish to use an external video processor, high-end audio/video receiver or display, the BDP-93 offers a “Source Direct” mode. The original audio/video content on the discs is sent out with no additional processing or alteration.
