As 3D technology is capturing the imaginations of movie viewers all over the world, Samsung is introducing us to try this experience from the comfort of our own living rooms. Part of its goal to bring the wonder of 3D home is it’s BD-C6900 Blu-ray Player. One of the first players with 3D Blu-ray playback capability; Samsung hopes it will make a good impression with home movie viewers.

Samsung is known for making some of the most unique looking Blu-ray Players. The BD-C6900 is no exception. The ultra sleek and glossy design makes the player look very modernized and High Tech. It has a transparent cover making the Blu-ray Disc visible as it spins. The touch sensitive controls are located on top of the player. Giving the BD-C6900 a very stylish look that would fit comfortable in any room or in any Home Entertainment Theater.

3D Full HD: One of the first 3D Blu-ray Players created with the advanced 3D technology, the BD-C6900 features 3D Full HD 1080 p image quality. Has expanded internal memory, Wi-Fi, and full backwards compatibility. It is an all-in-one multimedia device.
Internet@TV: You can get access to an ever-growing portal of your favorite digital content. The Samsung Apps will provide a wide range of applications you can download from categories such as video, music, sports, and games. Customizable widgets will give you access to BLOCKBUSTER, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, and more – all on your HDTV.
BD-Live ready: Get more out of a Blu-ray Disc than what’s is physically on it. BD-Live 2.0 lets studios future-proof their Blu-ray titles, so they can add more content to BD-Live Ready discs even after they have been made and shipped. You connect your Blu-ray player to the Internet (through the Ethernet port or using an optional Link Stick USB wireless dongle) to download images, subtitles and more. You can chat live with friends while you are both watching the movie, or play online travia games against others to unlock exclusive video content and earn discounts on other products.

Video Quality:

The BD-C6900 Blu-ray Player has Component and Composite Video Outputs located on the back of the players. A USB port is found on the front. It has a HDMI version 1.4 video output. This new version of HDMI supports 3D playback. It has crisp, clean image quality when playing Blu-ray. The 1080p playback produces movie images at 24 fps without any need for up-conversion.

Audio Quality:

The BD-C6900 has Optical Digital Outputs, but no Coaxial Digital Audio Outputs. It does have a complete set of set of 7.1 channel analogue outputs. It has internal audio decoders such as Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital, DTS-HD, and Dolby Digital Plus. Bringing you the ultimate multi-channel High Definition surround sound that enhances the visual images.

Like all Samsung’s new Blu-ray Players it incorporates a low power consumption and meets all the strict Energy Star 4.0 guidelines. It is a Profile 2.0 player with 1 GB of internal memory. Allowing for easy access to all the BD-Live content and Bonus View. Some other key features include DLNS support. Meaning the BD-C6900 can be used as a media-streaming receiver. If you have computers on your home network, the player can communicate with them and transfer videos, photos and music through the BD-C6900 player and onto you TV.

Last but not least, the BD-C6900 has built-in Wi-Fi. So you can take advantage of Samsung’s newest creation, the Internet@TV. This will provide you with widgets to put on your screen granting you access to them much faster. A part of Internet@TV is Samsung Apps. Here you can choose apps that let you stream video, play games, view pictures and much more. Examples include, Blockbuster, YouTube™, Netflix and many more online streaming services.

THE PROS: Samsung’s BD-C6900 has great image and audio quality when playing back Blu-ray disc. Internal audio decoding of HD audio formats, as well as Built-in Wi-Fi and 1 GB of memory. It is one of the first Blu-ray Players with Full HD 3D Blu-ray playback capability.

THE CONS: Internet@TV and Samsung Apps are new and not much is known how they will interact with other devices such as TV’s, laptops, etc. 3D viewing requires specific equipment like a 3D TV and 3D glasses. And of course 3D Blu-ray Content which is scarce at the moment.

THE FINAL WORD: Samsung’s BD-C6900 is a very stylish looking Blu-ray Player, with a lot of great features. And given the fact 3D seems to be the next trend in Home Entertainment, it is probably safe to say a 3D Blu-ray Player will be a vital piece of equipment everyone will need. Samsung’s BD-C6900 Blu-ray Player seems like it would make a good fit for anyone looking for the 3D experience at Home. Price you should look for when purchasing — Under $400.00
