Panasonic recently announced in Japan the RT2B range series will be the first Tvs with Built-in Blu-ray Players. The new Viera 3D TVs will make 3D Technology more accessible. Consumer will not have to purchase a separate stand alone Blu-ray Player to replace their current one.


The 3D Viera RT2B TVs will provide a 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio and full HD resolution. It includes a 500 HDD for recording storage and Skpe application which allows for free voice and video calls.


TH-P46RT2B (42″ model Price List: $4,487) and TH-P42RT2B (46″ model Price List: $5,060) will start shipping on August 27 in Japan. No word yet about the availability in North American and European markets, but it is only a matter of time as Panasonic will not likely forget about these markets. The technology is still in it infancy and the prices still very high. They will have to drop considerably to become popular with consumers.


However it is easy to see the advantages in this technology. As Shiro Nishiguchi, Panasonic Corporate manager, has stated; ““With this product, it is easy to record and play 3D video. We consider they are more reasonable compared with the case where a 3D TV and a BD/HDD recorder are separately purchased.”
