3D Blu-ray Player and 3D TV Sales Exceed $55 Million

Lack of content does not seem to be stopping consumers from purchasing 3D capable Home Entertainment Products. According to NPD Group’s Retail Tracking Service, sales of 3D components such as TVs and Blu-ray Players are over $55 million in the U.S. Ross Rubin an executive director of industry analysis at NPD says, “3D TV and Blu-ray players are seeing steady growth even as major product line launches are slated for the coming months. As more consumers adopt 3D, the industry can help foster a 3D ecosystem similar to that of HD.”
In the first three month since these 3D products were launched in February of 2010, $55 Million in sales is a good start, especially considering that most of the major manufactures, besides Samsung, have yet to launch their 3D products. With the addition of Sony and Panasonic soon to be joining the mix, these sale figures are likely to rise even more.
